Our client, an independent school in Berkshire, are looking for an Assistant Housemistress or Housemaster to join their thriving and established school.
The school is a comprehensive boarding school with a mission to offer a well-rounded education for both resident and day students. This school aspires to foster the academic, social, spiritual, and emotional growth of its pupils within a comfortable yet organized residential system.
The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified teacher with boarding/pastoral experience. As part of your role, you will be a tutor to a small group of pupils and you will meet with them on an individual basis every week.
During the daytime, when the pupils are in classes, you will have another position in the school that will normally equate to about a 50% timetable. The school are flexible on the subject the successful candidate will be teaching.
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Housemistress/Housemaster is to ensure that all of the pupils in their House receive pastoral care of the highest standard. HMs are responsible for creating communities in which all members are valued and included and for fostering a mutually supportive culture in House.
Housemistresses and Housemasters are the central figures in a pupil’s life. They are senior members of staff selected for their integrity, care and leadership. All are responsible for promoting boarding and for implementing the School’s plans for the development of boarding.
