Designated Safeguarding Lead – Independent School

Location: London
Start Date: September 2019
Timetable: Full Time, 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

Our client, an independent school is looking for a suitably qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their high achieving, well regarded school, for pupils aged 3 years to 13 years of age. The Designated Safeguarding lead will be training, communicating with senior leaders and external agencies. The Designated Safeguarding Lead will take responsibility for Child Protection across the school, in line with government legislation and best practice.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead will be responsible for making referrals to DBS, when required, as well as maintaining links with Local Safeguarding Children boards, ensuring staff training is up to date. The Designated Safeguarding Lead will also be responsible for all family liaison and be responsible for all referrals to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) The DSL will also be responsible for producing all reports, liaising with case manager and taking part in strategy meetings.

Essential criteria for the Designated Safeguarding Lead, is as follows;

  • Qualification in safeguarding/child Protection/social work/education psychology
  • Good knowledge of DBS process
  • Level 3 Safeguarding Training and experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead or comparable for at least one year
  • Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent)
  • IT competent with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Experience of making referrals to statutory agencies
  • Previous experience of working with families with complex needs
  • Experience of arranging and hosting TAC meetings

Salary will be on the schools own competitive scale and be dependent on experience and skill set.
