Our client, a leading co-educational independent school, is seeking a well-qualified and highly experienced Director of Music to lead, co-ordinate, support and oversea all aspects of musical activities at the well-renowned school.

At the school, music is fashioned as a whole school endeavour, and therefore, the successful candidate should show a renowned passion for their subject and should be able to inspire their pupils. The music department undertakes regular concert and opera trips, annual music tours, and twice-yearly musicals which the eventual postholder would be required to upkeep.

The successful candidate would be responsible for the smooth running of the music department. This includes the daily running and administration of the department, planning coherent and outstanding concerts and high-profile trips domestically and internationally, collaborating with the admissions department in rewarding music scholarships to prospective students as well an instinctual appreciation and awareness of the school’s strong tradition of music. The candidate should be able articulate their previous experience and how it has positively affected their current practice.

The school is a welcoming place to work with 95% of their staff living on site. Therefore, the eventual postholder would have the opportunity to use school accommodations and facilities. Alternatively, the school offers a ‘live out’ allowance if the candidate does not require to live on site.

The salary range is based on the school’s own generous scale and is dependent on experience.
