Our client, an independent sixth form in Cambridge, is looking for a suitably qualified Director of Studies, to join their high achieving, well regarded institution. The Director of Studies will be the Safeguarding Lead, working closely with the SMT.

The sixth form is part of a wider group of independent schools that caters for a mix of local and international students. Academic achievement is well above average and many students go on to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities in the UK and leading universities around the world. As well as KS5, the college also tutor for undergraduate and foundation degree level as well as Pre-U.

Currently the college require an outstanding Director of Studies, to support the smooth running of the college. Essential criteria for this role, is as follows;

  • Teaching experience at GCSE and/or A level
  • Experience of dealing with curricular and/or pastoral issues
  • Level 3 Safeguarding Training and experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead or comparable for at least one year
  • Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent)
  • IT competent with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Awareness of university entrance procedures and criteria

The Director of Studies will teach engaged students with high aspirations. Approximately 6 hours of group or individual teaching per week during term time and up to 17.5 hours of teaching for key times.

Director of Studies will also provide pastoral and academic support to up to 25 students, including guiding tutees through their UCAS applications and writing UCAS references, promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the tutees.

Safeguarding is a key focus of this role. The Director of Studies will have main management responsibility as the college’s Designated Safeguarding Lead and experience in this is area is essential.

Salary will be on the schools own competitive scale and be dependent on experience and skill set.
