Grounds Person – Independent School, Suffolk

Stoke by Clare, Suffolk
Full Time, Permanent (40 hours per week, full year)
Salary: £22,941 per annum
Start: Immediate

A small independent College in Suffolk, is seeking a Grounds Person to join its Estates team. This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance of the school’s grounds, gardens and sports facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain lawns, pitches, hedges, paths and landscaped areas

  • Prepare and mark out sports pitches and facilities

  • Operate groundskeeping equipment (mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers)

  • Support site maintenance and school events

  • Assist with seasonal duties including gritting and leaf clearance

  • Work collaboratively within the Estates team

Requirements

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening or landscaping

  • Practical, reliable and flexible approach

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to safeguarding and health & safety

Desirable

  • Grounds maintenance or horticultural qualification

  • PA1 spraying qualification or chainsaw licence

  • Experience in a school or public environment
