Our client, an independent boarding school in Cambridge, is looking for a suitable House Parent to join their boarding house staff team. The House Parent will be reporting to the Head of House. As a House Parent, the successful candidate will have a responsibility to provide top quality pastoral care for boarders (some of whom are international), making them feel part of the college community and supporting them in their journey towards independent living at university and beyond.
The House Parents role is regarded as a position of trust, in loco parentis between the school and parents. The House Parent is responsible for the welfare and safety of children and young persons for whom they are responsible for, ensuring a warm, fun and safe environment within the boarding houses.
A suitable candidate profile will include:
- Experience working with young people
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience in the use of a PC, particularly the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Demonstrated experience of work in line with policy and procedure
This post would suit someone who is articulate, professionally minded and caring. The school will provide free full time on site accommodation, free on duty meals and pastoral training. A salary between £19,000 – £20,500 will be offered to the successful House Parent with free accommodation valued at roughly £10,000 savings annually. The successful House Parent will receive 50 days annual leave per annum, which includes the school summer holidays.
