School Trip Booking Specialist

Location: Brighton

Timetable: Either Part-time (30 hours a week) or Full-time (flexible, open to discussion in interview)

Salary: £25,000 FTE (pro rata) + re-booker target bonus

Our client, a rapidly growing school travel company headquartered in Brighton, is actively looking for a School Trip Booking Specialist (titled ‘Centre Re-booking Specialist’) to engage and liaise with their current school clients to assist them in re-booking and orchestrating the company’s centre-based programs and international excursions.

This presents an exciting opportunity for either an individual with prior experience in the field of education seeking a career change, or for an organised and personable individual interested in using their skills to assist facilitate exciting educational trips. This is an exciting time to join the company as it is expanding its team and, over the next five years, the company seeks to extend their position as the leading provider of French, Spanish and German language immersion programs for UK schools.

The company provides exclusive international experiences to schools that allow the pupils to immerse themselves in the culture and language of the country they are travelling to. They provide this via specialist venues in France, which allow children to practise their language skills through a variety of activities such as rock climbing and escape rooms. Excursions to other countries are also provided and the group arranges trips all over the world.

Some elements of the role will involve:

  • Account managing existing school clients, via email, telephone and occasionally in person
  • Putting together detailed costings for each tour, including checking against previous years prices & margins
  • Sticking to minimum margins and where possible increase year on year margins & revenue
  • Loading quotations & bookings on to the in-house system and following them up
  • Liaising with their overseas centre teams
  • Some tour administration and handing over files in a good order to the co-ordinator team
  • Playing an active role within the wider team

The candidate would need to have an affable approach, and would be able to use their past experience to inform their practice. The relevant candidate does not need to have experience in this type of role but would be able to use their educational knowledge or research into the sector to confidently speak to stakeholders regarding the packages on offer. Experience in school trips is desirable but not essential.

The company are looking for:

  • Excellent admin skills along with excellent communication skills with both customers & suppliers
  • Self-motivation, drive and a determination to get the job done, plus the ability to cope calmly if a problem arises
  • A focused individual with a strong drive to deliver sales targets
  • Willingness to cope under pressure and busier times of the year
  • Organised and be able to work efficiently on their own as well as in a team.
  • Knowledge of regions of France and spoken French language desirable but not essential to the role.
  • While previous experience in school travel is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.
