We are looking for an articulate senior administrator to support the smooth running of a school for a full-time position, 8.00 AM – 5.30 PM, starting ASAP.
The annual salary offered will be on a scale between £30,000 and £37,000. This will be dependent on skillset, training and experience. The post will ideally start ASAP (start date will be reasonably flexible for the right candidate).
Applicants should have experience working in a busy school office or other education office and be familiar with how an academic year in a successful school should run. It is desired that applicants should have experience of elements Human Resources Administration within education, ideally in a school setting, and be able to show commitment to the role and to the school from the outset. However less experienced candidates can be considered in which case we would look for the general skillset of a capable administrator for a customer facing setting.
Our client is a family-run independent primary school with an associated nursery, based in Central London. The school is widely creative and has a non-selective and co-educational intake.
This varied senior administrator role will involve a wide range of duties, which include: administrative support of the school’s Human Resources Department and Health & Safety compliance, answering and screening calls, meeting and greeting visitors, keeping the school’s legislative requirements up-to-date, processing and updating school licenses, preparing for and taking minutes at Board meetings (three evenings per year), ordering and liaising with service providers, some building management (including organising emergency works and regular maintenance). You will be responsible for managing the school Caretaker. Other senior administrator office duties will include typing, filing, photocopying, organising some school activities and other ad hoc tasks that may arise.
The working hours are 8am – 5:30pm and the job is all year around.
Knowledge of school data management software is essential. Training will be provided to the successful candidate on the specific software but a base level of expertise with a school data management software will be preferred.
The ideal person will be an experienced school administrator who has a thorough knowledge of school office administrative processes, elements of Human Resources and strong organisational skills, who is able to prioritise and who has a high level of IT competency. You will have experience of working in a school and, as a result, you will have a courteous and welcoming manner on the telephone as well as in person. A focus on attention to detail in the office will be required and a very high level of literacy in all our school communication is expected.
The successful senior administrator candidate will share an office space with our school Secretary/Admissions officer and School Accountant. The Headteacher is also in an adjacent office. An ability to work closely with others and share tasks is essential.
