Street Safety Warden, Independent School – Westminster
Salary: £18k
Hours: 30 hours a week/ term-time only.
Our cllent, a leading independent senior school in Westminster, is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Street Safety Warden to join their school.
The role would be part time (30 hours per week) and in term time only.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- To assist students at designated crossing points, ensuring they follow good road safety rules at all times.
- To assist the operations team in ensuring road safety throughout planned and unplanned fire evacuations or at other times of emergency.
- To maintain a patrolling presence on the route between the school’s two buildings throughout the day to promote the safety and welfare of students.
- To be a visible and approachable presence for students.
- To remain vigilant and to be proactive in spotting and reporting potential hazards or concerns.
- To work with the school operations team and other staff to maintain and enhance a culture of street safety when crossing between the buildings and at the end of the school day.
- To communicate with the local business improvement district street safety officers and other agencies where necessary
- To monitor traffic flow, stop traffic when necessary, and ensure safe crossings as required.
- To log details and report any incidents that occur (e.g., near misses), to the operations team and, if necessary to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- To participate in road safety awareness campaigns within the school community.
The ideal Candidate would have:
- The successful candidate will be a punctual and reliable person who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about working in a team to ensure their safety and welfare when crossing between buildings.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate the confidence and vigilance required in the role to direct the students where necessary.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate patience and be aware of their responsibilities as a representative of the school in dealing with members of the public.
- The successful candidate will enjoy working outdoors and the demands of a job that requires moving across the route between the school buildings.
- The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of road safety rules, pedestrian rights, and traffic signs
