Our client, an esteemed all-boys prep school that is dedicated to nurturing the brilliance of London’s brightest young minds, is currently seeking a Year 4 teacher to commence in September 2023. With a vision centered on empowering students for lifelong learning and enabling them to embrace diverse and fulfilling paths, this school takes pride in providing an exceptional education. The school is a thriving and successful selective preparatory school for boys in North London, They provide a high calibre education for all of their pupils (approx. 470) from age 4 to 13. They aim to ensure a happy, secure and energetic community in which their pupils and staff can flourish.

Key elements of the role are:

  • Responsibilities include teaching a Year 4 class with diligence and competence
  • Tailor teaching approach to each student’s educational needs and follow Headmaster’s subject directives
  • Instruct class in English, Maths, and other subjects as designated
  • Manage time effectively and plan ahead for all subjects
  • Maintain an orderly classroom environment with good discipline and encourage respectful behaviour
  • Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere by displaying children’s work in a stimulating manner
  • Mark student work and provide feedback and support in line with marking policy
  • Keep accurate records of each pupil’s development, progress, and attainment
  • Maintain consistency in teaching approach within the Year 4 age group
  • Collaborate with other teachers to develop teaching materials, lesson plans, assessment methods, and pastoral care strategies
  • Contribute to homework planning and monitoring.

Essential Qualities:

  • Degree and/or appropriate Teaching Qualification
  • Recent teaching experience at KS2
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and be well organised

Desirable Qualities:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Proficiency in ICT
  • A specific subject specialism
